FAULKNER, George Arthur - 54 of Lower Economy, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 surrounded by his family at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Halifax he was the son of Phyllis (Anderson) and the late Everett Faulkner. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Scott), son Stephen (Jennifer), daughter Beth, grandchildren Owen and Riley, siblings  Debbie (George) Andrews and  Greg (Lisa), nieces and nephews Danny Andrews (Emma), Amy Andrews (Dean), Gracelynn Andrews, and Dylan Andrews. Cremation has taken place. TOMLINSON, Judy Ann – 69, Brentwood, Colchester County --- It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother and grandmother, Judy Ann Tomlinson (nee Gill) on September 9, 2016.   Judy was born in Selma, Hants County, to the late Alfred and Jean (Auchterlonie) Gill. She was an avid knitter, quilter and all around crafter.  Her greatest joy and pride for the past five years has been her grandson, Kees Tomlinson van Herk. She will be missed immensely by her family, husband Laurie Tomlinson of 47 years (Brentwood), daughter Janet Tomlinson, grandson, Kees Tomlinson van Herk, son-in-law, Stephen van Herk (all of Shortts Lake).  Judy is also survived by sister, Mabel (Bob Stevens), brothers Alfred Gill (Marion), Alan Gill (Susan) and Michael Gill and many nieces and nephews. BISHOP, Helen Jane (Helen B) - The family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear mother Helen, age 73, of Truro. Helen passed in the early hours of Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Loving wife, mother and grandmother, she leaves family and friends with many cherished memories and longing hearts for the day they can all be together with her again. Helen is survived by her adoring husband David of 50 blessed and wonderful years, sons Michael (Amelia) and Geoffrey (Kim); daughters Elizabeth (Mike) and Kimberley (Walter); grandchildren Emelyne, Michaela, and Landon (Elizabeth and Mike); Cameron, Cody and Caylee (Kimberley and Walter); Madelyn and Canaan (Geoffrey and Kim); and brother Richard (Deborah). Helen was predeceased by brothers Andrew & Gordon; mother Vera Learmonth of Halifax, and father James. Helen was a passionate and dedicated English teacher. She began her teaching career at Truro Junior High School from 1967 – ‘68 and continued on at Central Colchester Junior High from ‘68, retiring in ‘96. Many of her former students to this day, remember her charm and amiable spirit. Known as the "dragon lady" in detention hall, she kept students ‘in-line’ while affectionately earning their respect. Helen may best be remembered for her jams and pickles. After retiring from teaching, Helen stayed out of trouble by launching a hobby farm market business, known simply as Helen B’s Preserves. She attracted a huge following and people came from far and wide to the Truro Farmer’s Market to pick up a jar of one of her Mustard Pickles. This business was continued by the family and has grown to become one of Atlantic Canada’s most recognized products. The family, especially her husband David, would like to express sincerest gratitude to the health professionals and to the nurses and doctors in the Palliative Care unit where Helen was looked after in her remaining days. SIDDALL, Murray A. – Age 74, of Southampton passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Frank A. and Elsie M. (Meldrum) Siddall. Murray operated Murray’s Meats travelling door to door throughout Cumberland and Colchester Counties for more than 50 years. Karen took great pride in her marriage to Ross John Archibald, her children and grandchildren. LEVY, Ronald O. - It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our father, Ronald Olaf Levy. He passed away on Sunday, July 24^th, 2016. He was predeceased by his wife Sally of 56 years. CHAMBERS, Cecelia H. - Age 91, of Parrsboro passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late Colby J. and Margaret (McClelland) Ayer. She was a graduate of the Parrsboro Schools. She immediately began her career with the Royal Bank. Following her marriage to James in 1948, she commenced a long career with Canada Post. She was a long serving member of the Order of Eastern Star, Parrsboro Band Auxiliary, was an organizer of the 1967 Canadian Centennial Committee, was a CGIT leader, the Parrsboro Baptist Church, and the Willing Workers. She is survived by daughters, Barbara (Claude Chapdelaine), Londonderry; Carol, Parrsboro; Jacqueline (Ross White), Valley; sons, Jim (Sylvana), Wolfville; John (Shelley), Stratford, P.E.I.; a sister, Rose Pritchard, Blue Rocks, Lunenburg Co.; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Doreen worked at the Colchester Regional Hospital for many years until her retirement. She was a kind and gentle person and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. GOODWIN, Terrance Owen, age 90 of Truro was received into the safe arms of Jesus on August 2, 2016 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 22, 1925 in Debert, he was a son of the late Calvin and Lillian (Matthews) Goodwin. He was a veteran of the Second World War having joined the army on May 19, 1942 where he was a dispatch rider and travelled to England, Germany, France, Belgium and Holland. His last posted position was in England and he retired from the army in 1946. He then worked for 18 years as a supervisor with Sobeys. Later he retired from Atlantic Wholesalers as a District Supervisor. He was a very devoted member of the Cornerstone Assembly, Bible Hill and came to be known as the "Gatekeeper" at the church. Terrance loved motorcycles and seemed to notice every bike on the road. He also enjoyed time spent at the cottage in Bass River and trips to Largo and Orlando in Florida. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by daughters, Donna Singer, Cheryl (Paul Hominick), all of Truro; son, Duane (Trudy) Onslow; sister, Wanda (Paul Comeau), Truro; daughter-in-law, Barbara, Truro; grandchildren, Gregory (Becky) Singer, Sheila (Mike Ketch), Kelly (Craig Fraser), Craig (Jocelyn) Hominick, Heidi (Andrew Doucette), Christopher Goodwin, Vicki Goodwin; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. BENJAMIN, Euda C. – Age 84, of Diligent River, Cumberland Co. passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the South Cumberland Community Care Center, Parrsboro with her girls and husband by her side. Born in Yorke Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Lillian (Bowden) Yorke. Euda spent her adult life living in Halifax (Fairview and Shad Bay) before recently moving back to the cottage in Diligent River. Nan, as she was so adoringly called, was happiest spending time with her family; the bigger the gathering the happier she was! She was a doting grandmother to Jenna, Becky, Joseph and Ethan, always up for whatever they wanted her to do with them. "No" was not in her vocabulary, especially when it came to her grandkids, she would  try and do anything they wanted. "Eud" is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Kennie; daughters, Tanya Hardy (Randy), Shad Bay; Rhonda Larsen (Trevor), Fall River; brothers, Willard Yorke (Eva), Diligent River; Chester (Connie),Parrsboro. Nan is also survived by the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Jenna and Becky Hardy; Joseph and Ethan Larsen; and her "Best Bud" Carl Kelly. MAY, Florence "Toots" Delores (Frizzell) – 87, of Lower Onslow, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2016. Born October 13, 1928, in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Forman and Tina (Cantelo) Frizzell. Toots enjoyed reading, cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays and spending time with her loved ones and furry friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. JESSOME, Lloyd "Barry" - Bass River, NS, June 23, 1946 – August 20, 2016. It is with deep sadness that we, Barry’s family announce his passing after a lengthy illness with Pulmonary Fibrosis and cancer. He never once complained but carried on with his usual unbelievable optimism. He loved his family and many friends. He loved having anyone who dropped by (and we are so fortunate that there were many). You had to have a cup of tea and maybe a cookie and of course a chat!  He still considered himself a true Cape Bretoner, although he lived on the "mainland" in Bass River where he married Margaret Faulkner 44 years ago. He served 7 years in the army in which five years were spent in Germany. He discovered ATVing late in life and he enjoyed it with a true passion. Some of his happiest hours were spent on the trails with our ATV friends from the Colchester Five Islands ATV Club. He may not of had some of the doctors approval for many of our last trips but he was doing what he wanted and that is what mattered. And after an enjoyable 80 – 100 kms, we always returned home safe and another good memory made!  Gotta love that!!  He was the son of the late Minnie and Robert Jessome, Sydney Forks, Cape Breton. He was one of nine children, Margie, Adele (Jackie), John "Butch" (Carol), Bobby Ann (Roy), Larry, Peter (Diane), Patsy (Bill). Predeceased by sister, Verle and brothers-in-law, Stan and John. His children, Rick (Lucia), Robert (Gabriela) and Shelly (Chris), grandchildren, Dean, Amber, Ashley (Luke), Max, Zac (Taylor), Tyler, Zack and great granddaughters, Vera and Madison; sister-in-laws, Susan (Lee), Libbi (Wayne) and brother-in-law, Charles (Kim); many nieces and nephews. ATKINSON, Florence Geraldine – 75 of Truro, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2016 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, March 10^th, 1941 she was the daughter of the late George and Greta (MacCabe) Wynn, Truro. She was the wife of the late Frank Watt Atkinson. She was survived by her three sons, Earle (Shelly), Ross (Sandra), and Joseph (Susan); grandchildren, Alisha, Alan, Matthew, Melissa, and Bret, and her brother, Joseph (Susan) Wynn, and several nieces and nephews. Florence enjoyed spending time with her family and was very involved with St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Lower Truro Road. Not only was she a devoted member of the church she also was an active member of the Women’s Guild, and belonged to the choir. If Florence was not enjoying a Blue Jay’s game, she spent her time in her gardens, or watching humming birds visit her feeders. Florence was an avid crafter and a very talented knitter. She will be sadly missed, but not forgotten, by all. By family request, there will be no visitation or service. Interment to take place at a later date at Robie Street Cemetery. CAVANAUGH, Brandyn Mitchell – 22, Truro, passed away suddenly doing what he loved to do on June 26, 2016. Born in Truro and worked as a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union (Local 409). Brandyn also worked as a carpenter alongside of his father, Randy. Brandyn had a passion for BMX, Motorcross, Streetbikes as well as Snowboarding. He enjoyed being around kids, as well as animals, in particular his puppy, Krew. Brandyn was a talented cook and enjoyed sharing his skill with others. He received awards for his artwork, an interest that he had a great love for. Brandyn was a high energy guy who was well loved by all and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Brandyn leaves behind his father, Randy (Vicki) Cavanaugh; mother, Sherri (Warren) Benoit; girlfriend, Ceanna Mardian; sisters, Maddie Cavanaugh, Mirandya Cavanaugh, Nichole Bryson, Brittany (Jon) Brown, Sammy Winters, Jenny Baines, Becky (Brandon) Baines; brothers, Dylan and Joshua Benoit; grandparents, Claudia Cavanaugh, Edward and Sylvia Hatch, Finton and Irene Benoit; great grandmother, Annie Rennie. YUILL, Devon Alfred – Halifax. It is with profound sadness that the family announce his passing on June 27, 2016. Born in Halifax on November 18, 1966, he was the youngest son of the late Corinne Margaret (Adamson) and Dr. George Brenton Yuill. Devon is survived by his two beloved sons, George Walker Devon and Ian Tucker Irving  of Halifax; sister Tamzen Black (Geoff); brother, Bradford (Carolyn Otto); nephews Liam and Bryant Yuill; nieces Celeste; Rhea and Merryl Black; his aunt Lavonne Thompson, Antigonish; and many cousins. Devon was a graduate of Cobequid Educational Centre, in Truro and Acadia University, in Wolfville. Devon enjoyed a career in the financial and commercial real estate industries. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Colchester Community Funeral Home.
